About Me

Before becoming a bona fide Instructional Designer, I first learned how to design learning experiences while a GTA at Purdue University. There, I taught in the First-Year Writing program (FYW), where I had to learn how to design learning experiences for engineering, business, and liberal arts majors. After I received my Ph.D in Literary Studies from Purdue, I then taught for a number of years at several different types of institutions, including regional state schools and small private liberal arts institutions. There, I continued to learn how to adapt my teaching and design for different student populations, including first-time college students and student athletes.

After a brief retreat to the non-profit and government sectors, I returned to higher education in 2022 as an Instructional Designer at the University of North Dakota. In this role, I wear two Kentucky Derby-sized hats. I wear my first hat when I work in the role of an instructional designer. In this role, I assess course alignments, design engaging learning experiences, and wrangle technology for the College of Nursing and Professional Development. I don my second hat working closely with our accessibility initiatives as our campus prepares for the new Title II regulations.

Whether I'm wearing my first or second hat (or both together), I strive to create welcoming, affirming, and accessible learning experiences for all learners!
